9 Weeks Project

In Sports Marketing class we learned many wonderful things this nine weeks, and i'm here to tell you about everything we learned. The first we learned is the four P's or also known as marketing mix. The marketing mix contains of place, price, promotion, and product. The four P's pretty much describe what businesses do to get there product out there so consumers can buy their product. The first p in the marketing mix or four p's im going to talk to you about is place. Place involves used to make products available to customer. Then another one of the four p's is price. Price is the amount that customers pay for products, so in other words its the price that you buy the item for. Product is another one of the four p's, its probably the most important one. Product is what a business offers customers to satisfy needs. Also last but not least is promotion. Promotion describes ways to encourage the customers to purchase products and increase customer satisfaction.. Now another subject we learned in sports marketing class is the seven key functions of marketing, these seven keys all work together for a business to work its interdependent. The seven keys are product/service management, distribution, selling, marketing-information management, financing, price, and promotion. Distribution is how the company gets there product out there and also safely. The next one would be financing, financing is when a company offers a way to pay for a product. Selling is also another one, selling is how they sell it to you it can be direct or indirect, direct is when the person selling you to in person and indirect is like buying on the internet. Also promotion, promotion is something a company does to get people to buy their product. Price is the amount of money the customer pays for an item. Marketing-information management is when people get together and research on how to get the company’s product to sell, the main word is research. Last but not least is product/service management, product/service management is what a company services or how the product satisfy the consumer. The last thing we learned in sports marketing is STP. The s in STP is segment. Segment is the groups of customers who have similar buying needs. The t in STP in target, target is one of the groups of segments they focus on to sell to. And the P in STP is Position, position is what they do to get that customer to buy that product. This is pretty much everything we learned in the last nine weeks, I hoped you enjoy, I had a blast in sports marketing.

Stephon Marbury

Today in sports marketing we saw this clip about Stephon Marbury and his shoes. Its about how he is tired of really exspensive shoes, so he made is own called starbury's for only 15 dollars really cheap compared to 150 dollar air jordans. He wanted to give kids that didn't have that much money an oppurtunity to have some nice shoes and good material like air jordan just cheaper or really just affordable. When Ms. Marbury was buying shoes for Stephon she wouldn't but no 150 dollar shoes she got what she could afford and 150 dollars went to food. The difference between a want and a need is a need is somthing you can't go without like food and a want is something you can go without its mainly nicer then a need like shoes that cost alot of money. I buy fashion based on money normally, I would get the one I would be able to afford.

Selling

Today in sports marketing we learn selling, one of our 7 key functions of marketing. Selling can be direct and indirect depending where you buy the item. Like internet thats indirect selling, but buying something in person is direct selling and it satisty the consumers needs.

In this video its showing us that coke zero tastes just like normal coke, which is giving the consumer to drink more healthy because it tastes like normal coke but has zero calories which helps the consumer wants to buy it.

In this video its pretty much saying you can't go wrong with doritos because the crystal ball works with the free doritos but doesn't work so will with the boss therefore you can't go wrong with doritos.

Market information management

In sports marketing class we are studying marketing information management (mim). Marketing information management is gathering and using information about customers to improve business decision making, like a focus group. A focus group is a group of people who talk and discuss about improving the business or a problem. We did a focus group activity in class which my teacher had 3 differnt sodas and we not knowing which one is which had drank them and had to decide our favorite. In the video i found was a focus group about people discussing health care and other problems.

Distrubution Activity

Today in our marketing class we learned about distrubution. Distrubution is how a company gets there product from point A to point B. We did an activity which we had to get salt and water from one side of the room to another side using a spoon, napkin, and straw. Our plan was for the water just suck it all up as much as you can and go and just come back if needed. Then the napkin and spoon just try to scoop as much salt as we can. It was a pretty good play, we could have made it better if we would of got all the salt in one trip so it would of made it faster. Some of the challeges were that there were lots of other people going the same or different way we were going so it made alot of trafic. Our sucesses were that the water got there real fast and everything got there without droping anything. Having a good distribution plan is important because they won't loose any of there products trying to ship it, trying to get it somewhere. So its more money the company saves if it doesn't loose any products.

Yeah its the subject i really excel in but this year in math i got this teacher that can't teach so its gonna make it kind of hard for me to get stuff done. My strenghts would have to be my leadership and my weakness is probably be talking to much. I normally do not study for test but sometimes I do if its a real hard test. I want to learn how to start a business and be sucessful. We should divide work evenly in our teams. I would make a great team member beacause i get work done and always do my assignments.
